📰 Here are the top stories in Long Beach today:

1) The police took an alleged serial bank robbery suspect into custody on Wednesday. They arrested the 32-year-old man at his home in the 6300 block of Rahn Avenue. The bank robberies “occurred within close proximity to one another and involved a suspect giving a demand note to a teller before fleeing the scene.” (2UrbanGirls)

2) The thunder and lightning on Wednesday not only caused dogs to bark, but it also caused a palm tree in DTLB to go up in flames. The sound was akin to an explosion as the tree ignited around 4:50 p.m. After about 10 minutes, the LBFD was on hand to put out the fire. (LA Taco)

3) Does it feel like you're living in the Long Beach Airport’s flight path? We learned on Wednesday that officials there had to divert commercial air traffic because of a damaged water line. It sent planes “flying over California Heights and neighborhoods south of Heartwell Park.” (Long Beach Post)

4) Los Angeles Archbishop José H. Gomez has proposed an expansion of the National Catholic Youth Conference to Long Beach. We learned on Thursday that “the reasoning behind the move west seeks to expand coastal participation.” The event is currently planned for November 10 - 12 at the Long Beach Convention Center. (Angelus News)

5) Romeo Chocolates is hosting a chocolate and wine tasting at 209 Temple Avenue this Saturday! The event runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., so do not miss this! (Romeo Chocolates)
