Long Beach Officer Shoots At Suspect Armed With Pellet Gun

An officer-involved shooting occurred Thursday in Long Beach, according to police.

LONG BEACH, CA — A Long Beach Police Department officer shot at a suspect armed with a pellet gun outside a motel Thursday, according to authorities.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., LBPD received a report about an armed person in front of a motel in the 5500 block of Atlantic Avenue. When police arrived, they located a person with what they believed was a firearm.

"Officers directed the suspect to drop the firearm. An officer discharged their service weapon,'' LBPD said.

The suspect surrendered to police and was taken into custody without any injuries. Police recovered a pellet gun from the scene.

Body-worn camera footage is currently under review and will be released to the public at a later date.
