Shooting Victim Arrested + Not Guilty Plea + The Loop Demolished?
Welcome to the Long Beach Daily, your go-to for the scoop on everything happening in town.

Happy Sunday, Long Beach! Here's everything you need to know about what's happening locally today.
An interesting twist on the clean hands doctrine. Also, the suspected assaulter pleads not guilty. Finally, a woman crashed into “a bus stop, trash can, parking meter, electric scooters and palm tree,” which led to the heavy damage to the Loop (that’s why we can’t have nice things).

Here are the top stories in Long Beach today:
- Update: Remember the car-to-car shooting in the 300 block of East South Street last Tuesday? No, the cops haven’t caught the shooter. They did, however, arrest the victim for crashing into an uninvolved vehicle. While making the stop, they seized a firearm. He has now been charged with “one count of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle and one count of being in possession of a controlled substance while armed.” (LBReport)
- Update: The 36-year-old man accused of assaulting a 12-year-old child on a bus pleaded “not guilty to a felony count of child abuse under circumstances or conditions likely to cause great bodily injury or death.” He will be back in court on the 21st. (NBC 4)
- The Loop is a public art installation in Victory Park at 100 East Ocean Boulevard. In the past, it served as the landmark for Beer Gardens and Live After 5. Well, last Monday, a car crashed into “a bus stop, trash can, parking meter, electric scooters and the palm tree,” which then fell on the Loop and caused extensive damage. The Downtown LB Alliance is “weighing all its options to repair the mangled art installation or to get rid of it.” (LB Post)
- President Joe Biden will visit LB on Monday, which might explain the feverish pace that homeless encampments have been cleared. He is campaigning for Governor Gavin Newsom, who is fighting to keep his job. The battle cry is to “'Stop the Republican’ recall election” and persuade at least 50% of voters to oppose the recall. Watch out for traffic snarls. (Daily Forty-Niner)
- The Feline Good Social Club has found a new way to connect people and cats. Located at 301 Atlantic Avenue, it operates a Cat Lounge where you can spend some time to play with the kitties and see if there is one that is a keeper. In addition, visitors get to enjoy Paint & Purr events, sound healing, or even comedy shows! It’s a win-win-win! (FelineGoodSocialClub)
