The Five News Headlines That Everyone’s Talking About

1. The area around the Rainbow Lagoon was the scene of a shooting in the early morning hours. Police dispatched to the 700 block of East Shoreline Drive found casings but no shooting victims. (LB Post)
2. There is great news from the police department. The missing juvenile, Leilani Sucess Collins, was found safe and sound. She’s been reunited with family. (LB PD)
3. Shoppers at Lazy Acres and Pet Supplies Plus at the 2000 block of Bellflower Boulevard had to deal with a four-hour standoff involving a suspect inside a police vehicle. Swat rolled, and the situation ended well for everyone. (LB Post)
4. Event organizers are planning a return of the in-person Uptown Jazz Festival. This year’s tentative date will be August 21 in Houghton Park. (LB Local News)
5. In partnership with the Parks & Rec Department, the city will serve FREE “Grab n Go” meals for kids between 1 and 18 years of age during summer vacation. There are 34 sites across the city to serve food between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on weekdays. (Parks, Recreation and Marine)
