SigAlert: Oil Spill Shuts Down Part Of 710 Freeway In Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA — Authorities shut down the northbound lanes of the Long Beach (710) Freeway at Del Amo Boulevard Thursday morning after a gas tanker leaked large amounts of oil.

According to an alert by the California Highway Patrol, a biodiesel tanker began leaking fuel around 4 a.m. The CHP issued a SigAlert expected to last several hours.

Los Angeles County Fire personnel have been working to contain the leak. It's unclear exactly how many gallons have spilled.

As of 7:16 a.m., the rest of the fuel was being transferred to a new tanker, according to the CHP.

Traffic is expected to be impacted in the area until at least noon, with drivers being diverted off Eastbound Del Amo Boulevard, according to CHP.
