Here are the top five stories today in Long Beach:
- The city issued a press release on Wednesday regarding its updated mask requirements. It “will issue a separate health order, effective February 26, that will allow fully vaccinated people to remove masks in many indoor settings.” However, on public transit, inside schools, in healthcare settings, and in shelter settings, the city will “continue to require masks, regardless of vaccination status.” (Patch)
- We learned Tuesday that The Prospector’s owner wants to retire. Now, $3 million buys you the restaurant at 2400 E 7th St, “its attendant entertainment and liquor licenses and the cabin/house next door.” Ever since 1965, the venue had an immediate neighborhood appeal. Now, a live performer refers to it as “the last soldier standing in terms of old-fashioned steakhouses, and one of the last places for live music.” (The HiLo)
- A firefighter was injured Thursday morning at 9 a.m. while fighting a fire at the Windward Village Mobile Home Park. Located on the 3500 block of Santa Fe Avenue, there was “a fire outside that had spread to a nearby mobile home.” While the residents got out in time, one firefighter sustained “minor injuries” and was taken to the hospital. (LB Post)
- Long Beach is hiring ambulance operators. These are full-time positions that pay between $16.59 and $17.55 hourly. Benefits include paid parental leave, a retirement plan, and more. You have until 4:30 p.m. on March 4 to apply! (@LBCityJobs, 2)
- Did you know that there is a beer brewery that also “serves kosher-certified dairy and parve foods like artisan pizza and breads, grilled cheese sandwiches, hummus plates, and salads?” No? A Thursday highlight of the Long Beach Beer Lab at 518 W Willow St might change that. (You can even buy a sourdough starter there!) (Jewish Journal)
