Suspect In Fatal Shooting Of Long Beach Man Arrested: Police

Police say the suspect and victim had been interacting over a family matter prior to the shooting on July 31.

LONG BEACH, CA — A suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Long Beach in late July, according to authorities.

Police say Los Angeles resident Sean Richson, 39, shot and killed Rickie Taylor, 29, in the area of Long Beach Boulevard and Bort Street on the night of July 31. Richson and Taylor, according to the Long Beach Police Department, had been interacting over a family matter prior to the shooting.

Richson shot Taylor once in the upper body, according to police. Taylor was taken by emergency personnel to a local hospital, where he died from his wound, authorities said.

Following the shooting, homicide detectives identified Richson as the gunman and arrested him on suspicion of murder. He's currently being held in lieu of $2 million bail.

Detectives will present the case against Richson later this week to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, which will weigh what charges, if any, to file against the 39-year-old.
