LONG BEACH, CA — Detectives arrested a Temecula man in connection to the shooting murder of a 28-year-old man in Long Beach last week.

Through investigation of the May 8 incident, authorities identified 29-year-old Xabian Che Brown as the suspect. Brown was arrested on May 15 in Temecula and is suspected of murder as well as being an ex-felon in possession of a gun and ammunition.

On the night of the shooting, the Long Beach Police Department responded to the 800 block of Atlantic Avenue and discovered the victim, 28-year-old Tyrone Parks, with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to render medical aid, Parks was declared dead at the scene, police said.

Through investigation, detectives determined that Parks and Brown were familiar with each other and had argued before the shooting occurred. Police believe the argument resulted in the shooting, but are still determining the exact motive for the crime.

Brown's bail was set at $2 million and detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration.
