Suspect Wounded in Police Shooting Following Foot Pursuit
Officers tried to stop a car for a traffic violation and the suspect tried to flee down an alley when the shooting happened.

LONG BEACH, CA - A passenger who fled from a vehicle police were trying to stop for a traffic violation was hospitalized following an officer-involved shooting in Long Beach on Thursday night.
Officers tried to stop the vehicle about 6:20 p.m. in the area of Long Beach Boulevard and 68th Street, said Marlene Arrona of the Long Beach Police Department.
The shooting occurred as a foot pursuit of the suspect made its way into an alley, Arrona said.

The suspect was taken to a hospital, Arrona said, but that person's condition was not disclosed.
There was no word of injuries to any officers.

Police advised the public to avoid the Long Beach Boulevard between Artesia and Greenleaf boulevards.
