Empty Gas Can Prompts Bomb Squad Investigation In Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA — A bomb squad was sent to a Long Beach park to investigate a "suspicious device" Thursday morning, but it was not dangerous, police said.

Long Beach police were sent at about 9:30 a.m. to Willow Springs Park in the 2700 block of Orange Avenue in Long Beach to investigate the suspicious device that was found.

Police told the Long Beach Post the item turned out to be an empty gas can and some unattached wires.

Traffic was routed away from the area as a precaution while explosives experts worked to remove the item.
