SWAT Officers Arrest Burglary Suspect After Standoff In Long Beach: Police
Police say the man barricaded himself at a home in the 1900 block of Olive Avenue on Thursday.
LONG BEACH, CA — A burglary suspect who sparked a SWAT standoff Thursday afternoon in Long Beach has been arrested, according to police.
Police say the suspect entered the home in the 1900 block of Olive Avenue sometime before 3 p.m. and barricaded himself when officers arrived at the scene.
This prompted authorities to establish a perimeter around the home and activate SWAT officers, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

It's unclear how long the standoff lasted, but police say the suspect refused to comply with officers who were trying to de-escalate the situation.
Eventually, officers entered the home and the suspect surrendered, according to the LBPD.

The suspect, who police identified as a 40-year-old Long Beach resident, was taken into custody on suspicion of burglary, criminal threats, possession of unlawful paraphernalia and obstruction of justice, police said. His bail was set at $50,000, authorities added.
