📰 Here are the top stories today in Long Beach:
1) Starting today, Thursday, getting around Belmont Shore will be even more convenient. Circuit Transit now offers a FREE micro-shuttle service around Belmont Shore, Belmont Heights, Alamitos Bay, and Naples. It runs Thursdays and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., on Saturdays from noon to 10 p.m., and on Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. (City of Long Beach)
2) If you have old medications cluttering your medicine cabinet, here's a solution. The Long Beach Police Department is partnering with Long Beach Memorial Hospital to host a prescription take-back event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Head over to the LB Memorial parking lot at 2801 Atlantic Avenue to drop them off. (LBPD)
3) The LBPD responded to a non-fatal stabbing near Ocean Boulevard and Bayshore Avenue on Monday evening. In a twist, the victim had knocked out the attacker, who reportedly approached him in an alley and started stabbing him. The suspect is an 18-year-old man “who was booked for assault with a deadly weapon. His bail is set at $30,000.” (LBPD News)
4) The Southern California Medical Center Community Clinic at 1627 East Anaheim Street celebrated its grand reopening on Saturday. The Cambodia Town clinic added a second dental treatment room to its facility. The clinic charges on a sliding fee scale, offers a full-service care model, and assists patients in English, “Spanish, Khmer, Farsi, Armenian, and Arabic.” (LB Business Journal)
5) Head to the Long Beach Airport on Saturday for its annual Festival of Flight, which features more than 30 types of “aircraft on static display, live music, food and beer trucks, activities for children, and more.” Visit “Taxiway E, on the west end of the airfield, 3590 East Wardlow Road,” between 10 a.m and 4 p.m. If parking is an issue, head to 3840 Kilroy Airport Way, and take the shuttle service to the event.
