Teen Arrested In Fatal Shooting Near Long Beach Grand Prix Last Month
The shooting happened on April 12 in Downtown Long Beach, according to police.
LONG BEACH, CA — A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man near the Long Beach Grand Prix in April, police announced Tuesday.
The teen, who was not identified because of his age, is suspected of fatally shooting 21-year-old Long Beach resident Brandon Villareal in the 0 block of Cedar Walk in Downtown Long Beach the afternoon of April 12, police said.
It's unclear whether the two knew each other, but the Long Beach Police Department previously said the shooting was sparked by an argument between them.

Investigators identified the 15-year-old Long Beach teen as a suspect in the shooting and obtained a warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody on suspicion of murder after he returned Sunday from a trip to Las Vegas, police said.
He's since been processed and is currently being held at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall without bail, according to the LBPD.

Detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office, which will weigh the charges against the teen.
