The California Credit Union Foundation scholarship program was created in 2005 to recognize the most outstanding students in their respective communities, according to the nonprofit. Since then, nearly half a million dollars in scholarships have been awarded to students in Los Angeles, San Diego, Riverside, Orange and Ventura counties, the nonprofit said.
To qualify for the award, high school seniors and community college students transferring to a four-year institution must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
