Ube Festival To Celebrate Anniversary With 2-Day Event In Cerritos

The event is free and will feature over 70 vendors each day, according to organizers.

CERRITOS, CA — Ube Festival will be celebrating its fourth anniversary with a free two-day event in late September.

The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, and Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Cerritos Center for Performing Arts, according to its organizers, Long Beach Ube Fest.

Ube Fest organizers say that Saturday will feature a night market from 4 to 9 p.m., and Sunday will be a day market from noon to 7 p.m.

Admission to the event is free and will feature over 70 vendors each day, including Banger Lumpia, 559 Bread and Butter, Battambong BBQ, Mana Bakery LA and Ube Area Bakery, organizers said.

UbeFest started as a small pop-up event in Long Beach in 2021. In April, it hosted its first-ever countywide event at Don Knabe Park in Cerritos.

Ube (pronounced oo-bay) is a purple yam that is native to Southeast Asia. It has a rich history in the Philippines and, in recent years, has surged in the United States for its rich, nutty, vanilla flavor.

The Cerritos Center for Performing Arts is located at 18000 Park Plaza Dr. in Cerritos.
