  1. The City updated its Youth Sports Protocol on Tuesday. It “revises some masking and vaccination requirements.” In outdoor settings with fewer than 5,000 attendees, masking is not required. In indoor sports, participants have to wear masks “as practicable.” “When there has been an outbreak of four or more linked cases among any youth sports team, a seven-day suspension of all team activities will be required.” (City of LB)
  2. Mayor Robert Garcia, tweeting from his personal account, proves that he practices what he preaches when urging residents to visit local companies. He spent Saturday afternoon visiting local breweries, which are typically small businesses. He enjoyed the vibe at Trademark in DTLB, Border X in Bell, and Ten Mile in Bellflower. (@RobertGarcia)
  3. Heritage is a popular eatery at 2030 East 7th Street. If you haven’t been there in a while, February is your month to go. We learned Saturday that Chef Philip Pretty “will be collaborating with a local chef and baker to create a five-course tasting menu” for every Saturday in that month. The lineup, so far, consists of Gingers & Hey Brother Bakery, Little Coyote & Colossus Bread, Amatolli & Gusto Bread, and Rose Park on Pine & Kalas. (The HiLo)
  4. There was a hit-and-run on Friday evening around 11 p.m. A 33-year-old woman was crossing Vermont Avenue north of 186th Street. “She was crossing westbound when she was struck by ‘a black, early model, medium-sized sedan’ heading northbound on Vermont Avenue.” The driver didn’t stop. If you have any information, please call South Traffic Division detectives at 323-421-2500. There is a “reward of up to $50,000.” (My News LA)
  5. There was a shooting at the LB Towne Center Saturday afternoon. Taking place at 4:35 p.m. on the 7500 block of Carson Boulevard, which is “at the west driveway entrance to the East Long Beach shopping center,” there is no suspect description and no witnesses. The PD doesn’t have information about a motive. (LB Post)
