Video: Unit in 15-Story High-Rise Apartment Building Catches on Fire
There were extensive smoke and water damage, but the fire was contained to the one apartment. No one was hurt in the blaze.

LONG BEACH, CA - A fire in a sixth-floor unit of a 15-story residential high rise in Long Beach on Tuesday night caused extensive smoke and water damage, but no one was injured.
The fire in the 600 block of Ocean Boulevard was reported at 6:30 p.m. and a knockdown was declared about 20 minutes later, said Rich Brandt of the Long Beach Fire Department.

One person in the unit was able to escape, Brandt said. The fire was kept to the single unit.
At least 45 firefighters fought the two-alarm blaze, Brandt said.

The fire caused the area of Ocean Boulevard near the building to be closed until further notice because of the flames, Brandt said.
