😋 Fair Food Poll!
Fair food is the ultimate cheat meal. We asked which is your favorite. You answered! The top four vote-getters are funnel cake (25.7%), candy apples (24.3%), corndogs (17.2%), and guacamole (4.3%). Interestingly, nobody picked deep-fried Oreos. Thank you for participating!

Here are the top stories today in Long Beach:

  1. A 32-year-old woman lost her life in a motorcycle accident on Saturday. It happened just before 11 a.m. in the 1200 block of East San Antonio Drive. She reportedly “accelerated while in the parking garage and lost control of a three-wheeled Can-Am Ryker,” which caused her to hit the wall head on. She wasn’t wearing a helmet. (Long Beach Police Department)
  2. Wilson High School is in the news! Last week, the city hosted a Student Television Network Convention with concurrent competition, and Wilson’s team came in third. The entry was titled “Easier Said Than Done.” The short film team consists of Roman Fuentes, Roxy Kuper-Wilson, Matteos Mandalia, Ashely Martinez, Ben Tinsley, and Mia Urena. Congratulations! (Long Beach Post)
  3. Located at 620 Olive Avenue, St. Anthony High School has been educating children since 1920. Over the weekend, the school mobilized about 900 participants for its annual Saints Run 5K fundraiser. The school “raised more than $100,000 for St. Anthony’s Sponsor-a-Saint program,” which makes a private Catholic education affordable for more students. (Press-Telegram/paywall)
  4. George Washington Carver Elementary School reopened on Wednesday after its closure due to a norovirus outbreak. In addition to the Long Beach Unified School District’s custodial team, the administration hired an outside firm to deep-clean the facility. Even so, things aren’t back to normal. Communal water fountains and play structures are closed; the after-school program is on hold, and children undergo a daily wellness check. (Patch)
  5. If you’re wondering what to do with the kids over spring break, the Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM) has your back. It’ll offer “Spring Fun Days,” a FREE youth recreation program for kids between the ages of 5 and 12. It runs April 10 – April 14. (City of Long Beach)
