🤔 Aggressive Urban Coyotes or Regular L.A. County Wildlife? Poll!
We live with raccoons and opossums. Do coyotes fall into the same category? They don’t need open space, have no problems building dens close to humans, and are becoming more and more visible on our neighborhood streets. What do you think? So far, 60.7% think we need to learn to live with them, 37.6% want them gone, and 1.7% don’t care one way or the other.
📰 Here are the top stories today in Long Beach:
1) A woman was shot Friday evening around 9:30 p.m. “near an alleyway in the 1400 block of Pacific Avenue.” The victim said she saw several people fighting, gunfire erupted, and she realized she was hit. (LBPD)
2) The numbers are in, and there are three member schools of the LBUSD that received an A+! They are the California Academy of Mathematics & Science, which is also rated fourth among the best public high schools in CA, the Eunice Sato Academy of Math & Science, rated 92nd among the best public high schools, and Polytechnic High School, which is rated in 155th place statewide. (Niche)
3) The Long Beach Health Department is opening FREE flu vaccine clinics starting Monday and continuing through November 1. Shots are available for everyone over the age of six months. “Starting Monday, Oct 10, the Health Department will offer free flu vaccine at all City-run COVID-19 vaccine sites.” Check out the City’s calendar for locations, dates, and times. (City of LB)
4) Food truck vendors protested, and the City responded. On Friday, the City removed “a sign prohibiting oversized vehicles from parking alongside Shoreline Drive.” The sign had been placed in error at the location, along with temporary no-parking signs to accommodate shuttle operations for the Shaqtober event. (Long Beach Post)
5) Mark your calendars! The Port of Long Beach is inviting the public to visit on November 5 from noon to 5 p.m. There will be “Food, Entertainment, Equipment Demonstrations, Information Booths, Kids’ Activities, and More!” The Port Fair is an environmental event. (Port LB)
