Woman Struck by Three Vehicles on 710 Freeway

She was pronounced dead on the scene.

At least three vehicles fatally struck a woman running across the Long Beach (710) Freeway in Long Beach today, where one of those three motorists was subsequently arrested for suspicion of drunken driving.

The California Highway Patrol was notified that a pedestrian had been struck on the northbound 710 Freeway, between Anaheim Street and the San Diego (405) Freeway, at 1 a.m., according to the CHP.

The woman was running across the northbound lanes of the freeway when she was struck by a white 2004 Toyota Tacoma, followed by a 2005 Toyota Scion and a 2010 Toyota Camry, according to the news statement.

All three vehicles pulled to the right shoulder of the freeway, north of Anaheim Street. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the statement.

One of the motorist, Long Beach resident Eric J. Nagao, 51, was subsequently arrested for suspicion of drunken driving. Nagao had been driving the Toyota Tacoma.
