Woman Struck by Three Vehicles on 710 ID'd as Local Resident

Eric J. Nagao of Long Beach, was booked on suspicion of drunken driving.

A woman fatally struck as she ran across the Long Beach (710) Freeway was identified today as a 57-year-old local woman.

Susanna Ruiz of Long Beach was hit in northbound lanes, just north of Anaheim Street, by at least three vehicles about 1 a.m. Sunday, according to California Highway Patrol officers and a coroner’s spokesman.

All three drivers stopped at the scene, and the first to strike her, 51- year-old Eric J. Nagao of Long Beach, was booked on suspicion of drunken driving, according to the CHP. Nagao was driving a white 2004 Toyota Tacoma.

It was unclear what Ruiz was doing on the freeway.
