1 Dead, 5 Hurt — Including 4 Children — In I-10 Crash: Authorities

Four children ranging in age from three months to 10 years were involved in the crash, along with three adults, authorities said.

LOS ANGELES — A man died and five people were injured, including several young children, after a crash Sunday on the Santa Monica Freeway, according to authorities.

The two-vehicle collision occurred on the westbound interstate at Hoover Street in the University Park neighborhood and involved at least one rollover, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported around 3 p.m.

One victim had to be extricated from the wreckage, authorities said. A man was found dead at the scene, according to the department, which reported that a 3-month-old boy, 6-year-old boy, 7-year-old boy, 10-year-old boy and 29-year-old woman were taken to a nearby trauma center in serious to critical condition.

A man was also evaluated and released at the scene, authorities said.
