LOS ANGELES, CA — As we head into the new week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.
But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, people should expect more rain across the Southland this week and into the start of the new year.
Weather officials said the "most likely outcome for storm totals would be" 1 to 3 inches of rain for coasts and valleys and 3 to 5 inches for south-to-southwest-facing foothills and mountains, with potential for additional rockslide and mudslide activity, especially on mountains and canyon roadways through the start of the year in Los Angeles County.

Rain is also forecasted further down in San Diego and across the Inland Empire this week.
In other news, a man who was seriously injured in an avalanche at Mammoth Mountain last week has died; one person was killed and 10 others were injured in a crash in Los Angeles; a gas line rupture caused the closure of a major freeway; and a mother is suing Los Angeles officers over the death of her son who she claims was holding a pellet gun when he was killed.
