15-Year-Old Girl Found Safe After Week-Long Disappearance

A girl who was missing for a week was found safely outside a news studio in Los Angeles County, authorities said.

MONTEREY PARK, CA — A 15-year-old girl who went missing last Tuesday after embarking on a bike ride to her aunt's house was found safe outside a news studio in Glendale, authorities said.

A week after her disappearance, Alison Jillian Chao was found safe at ABC7's studio in Glendale. According to a security guard at ABC7, Alison was walking and had been followed by someone who recognized her as a missing minor and called the police.

"Monterey Park Police Department extends its appreciation to community members and the many local, state and federal partners for their assistance during the investigation," MPPD said in a statement.

Alison was reported missing on July 16 after she left her father's home in Monterey Park to ride her bike to her aunt's house in San Gabriel. She was last seen at about 6:23 p.m. on Ring camera that day and her aunt called her father at about 8 p.m. when she had yet to arrive.

Alison is now safe with MPPD, according to the Glendale Police Department.
