4 Shot In 6 LA Street Takeovers Over The Weekend

LOS ANGELES, CA — Several weekend street takeovers in the South Los Angeles and Compton areas were under investigation Monday, including one in which four people were shot and wounded, authorities said.

The shooting occurred about 10:30 p.m. Sunday during a street takeover in the area of Alondra Boulevard and Central Avenue in the Compton area, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Compton Station.

Four people were taken to a hospital in unknown condition, the sheriff's department reported. No arrests were reported, and no suspect information was available.

Anyone with information on that crime was urged to call the Compton Station at 310-605-6500.

In the south Los Angeles area overnight, five street takeovers occurred in various areas, including one about 11:20 p.m. Sunday at Century Boulevard and Western Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

During the investigations into all five takeovers, police made 24 arrests and issued 15 citations for various traffic violations, and officers impounded 14 vehicles, the LAPD reported.

Early Sunday morning, LAPD officers impounded more than 30 vehicles involved in a takeover on the Sixth Street Bridge in the Boyle Heights area.

It happened "while you were sleeping," the LAPD Center Division reported on social media.
"The officers observed multiple violations," the post continued. "The offenders fled to lower grand tunnel area where they were detained."

Officers handed out about 150 citations, according to ABC7.
