5 Freeway Lane Closures Begin Next Week In LA County
Multiple lanes will be closed on the 5 Freeway as crews complete a pavement rehabilitation project, Caltrans said.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Multiple lanes will be closed in each direction on the 5 Freeway southeast of downtown Los Angeles next week due to roadwork, Caltrans announced Friday.
Up to two lanes on both the northbound and southbound side of the 5 Freeway will be closed between the 605 Freeway and Slauson Avenue between July 29 and August 2, Caltrans said.
The closures will be limited to the hours of 10 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The closures will allow crews to make repairs along the median shoulder, Caltrans said.

It's part of a pavement rehabilitation project along a 6.5-mile stretch of the 5 Freeway from the 605 Freeway to north of Atlantic Bouleavrd.

"When completed, the project will extend the life of the pavement, impede roadway deterioration and improve the ride quality for motorists traveling on I-5. The project is anticipated to be complete in early 2025," Caltrans said.
Motorists are reminded to slow down in work zones.
