LOS ANGELES, CA — Lane and ramp closures will continue on the southbound 5 Freeway in the San Fernando Valley this week as crews work on a construction project, according to Caltrans.

The closures began Monday night and will continue through Friday morning near the interstate's junction with the 170 Freeway.

Each night, only two or three lanes will be open on the 1.5-mile stretch of the southbound 5 Freeway between Osborne and Sheldon streets. Four ramps will also be closed.

"These closures are necessary for the safety of travelers and workers during construction of improvements to a pump station that removes stormwater from I-5 at Sheldon Street. Some additional I-5 closures are expected in the future as these construction operations are continuing," Caltrans said.
