COMPTON, CA — A 9-year-old boy was shot to death in front of his grandfather's Compton home and authorities planned to release details Monday.

The Medical Examiner's office reported that Princeton Jones died at a private residence Saturday.

News agencies reported he was shot just after 7:30 p.m. Saturday on Haskins Avenue near Visalia Avenue.

Jones' mother, Creole Green, told ABC7 that he had autism.

"My goal ... was to give him the proper teachings and all the things that he needed in order to navigate this world independently one day," she told the TV station. "I'm just devastated that my son's life ... the door was shut in front of him at 9 years old."

Sheriff's officials have not released information about the shooting, nor whether there were any arrests. Detectives planned to release details on Monday, according to the Sheriff's Information Bureau.
