UPDATE: LAX Flights Resume, Delays Expected Throughout Day
A software issue in San Diego affected air traffic at LAX on Thursday morning.

A ground stoppage affecting all inbound flights at Los Angeles International Airport was lifted Thursday morning, and officials said to expect residual delays as airlines play catch-up.
A software issue in San Diego caused the stoppage at LAX, the FAA said. Outbound flights were temporarily grounded as well, but that order was lifted shortly after it was issued.
The FAA said, "It will take a while to clear up the residual delays."

An alert from Air Traffic Control said to expect delays of up to 30 minutes for outbound flights. Flightaware pegged the LAX departure delays at 30 to 45 minutes and increasing.
"A computer software issue at our approach control in San Diego is affecting flights into LAX," the FAA's Ian Gregor said in a statement to Patch. "Technicians are working to fix the problem. The issue is only affecting LAX."

In total, 62 arriving flights were delayed and three were canceled; and 83 departing flights were delayed and four were canceled, according to LAX.
Airport officials are encouraging passengers to arrive early and to check their flight status before leaving.
