📰 Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today:

  1. An “unauthorized music video production” near the 6th Street Bridge turned deadly on Friday. The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the 500 block of South Mission Road, where an argument ended in gunfire. The incident's currently considered gang-related. Witnesses reported the suspect got away in “a blue Dodge Charger with a white racing stripe.” (The Eastsider LA)
  2. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reported another hiker rescue on Saturday. It responded to 1598 Bienveneda Avenue, where first responders encountered a woman who “suffered a lower leg injury while hiking on or near a remote trail.” While they were able to meet her on site via the ground, first responders did call in “LAFD Air Ops to perform a hoist operation” and transport the hiker to the hospital. (LAFD)
  3. Yes, that gas bill was indeed "shockingly high." SoCalGas announced Friday that “historically high natural gas prices in the western United States” result in a 128-percent increase. Qualifying customers may be able to get some relief from the Gas Assistance Fund, but that’s only a one-time deal. “SoCalGas also recommended lowering thermostats by three to five degrees, washing clothes in cold water and limiting non-essential natural gas appliances like pool heaters and fireplaces.” (Patch)
  4. If you know someone who’s having a difficult time making ends meet, let them know about the grocery giveaway at the Whitsett Sports Complex on Wednesday. Located at 6950 Whitsett Avenue, the event runs from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and is a collaboration between Paul Krekorian’s office, the police department, and JustServe. (Paul Krekorian)
  5. If you’re still making plans for Monday evening, consider heading to the Crypto.com Arena for Japanese Heritage Night, hosted by the Los Angeles Kings. Festivities kick off at 7:30 p.m. when “Cup Noodles will honor local Japanese Americans and passionate hockey fans in the Los Angeles community.” The team’s partner also intends to host “Cup Noodles experiences in the Main Concourse of the arena, along with special surprise giveaways throughout the game.” (Rafu)
