🌱Amazon Closes Three L.A. Stores + $197M For Valley Bike Path
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Los Angeles.

Hello, neighbors; today is National Cheese Doodle Day! It's me again, Sylvia, your host of the Los Angeles Daily. Today’s cheap gasoline tip is Costco at 3560 West Century Boulevard at $4.45 a gallon.
Amazon put itself out of business – temporarily. Also, the Valley Bike Path needs a cash infusion from the state. Finally, no more masks at USC.

- Local Amazon brick-and-mortar locations are going the way of the dodo bird. The Amazon Bookstore at Westfield Century City, Amazon 4-Star Store at the Sportsmen’s Lodge, and the Amazon Go store on Melrose Avenue will close. “We remain committed to building great, long-term physical retail experiences and technologies,” Amazon explained Wednesday. - Before the 2028 Olympics, the city wants to complete the Valley Bike Path that runs along the L.A. River. We learned Friday that the City Council is asking the state to foot the bill or at least pay $197 million toward its costs. Council President Nury Martinez, Councilwomen Monica Rodriguez and Nithya Raman, and Councilmen Bob Blumenfield and Paul Krekorian introduced this resolution. (NBC)
- USC announced Friday that it is making changes to its indoor mask mandate. Beginning Monday, “masks will continue to be welcome on campus for all those who wish to continue taking extra precautions,” the Provost said. Masks are no longer required in “classrooms, labs, offices, libraries, recreational facilities, dining facilities, and athletic facilities.” (My News LA)
- The latest bone of contention is bull riding. A Friday report highlighted an “anti-rodeo protest outside of Crypto.com Arena.” Councilman Bob Blumenfield denies that he plans to ban bull riding, but intends to outlaw “torturous devices.” On the other side are cowboys, who “are not gonna take this laying down. Last time I checked, Los Angeles was still part of America.” (LA Mag)
- City Councilman Paul Krekorian reminds you that the L.A. Public Library’s Diversity and Inclusion apprenticeship program application process closes on March 23. It runs from June 6 to August 26, and it pays $16.54 an hour. Expect to spend 15 hours a week learning and working. (@PaulKrekorian)
