Arrest Made In Mystery Of Woman's Fatal Fall From Moving Truck

A man whose girlfriend fell from his moving truck was arrested on suspicion of hit and run, but police still want to know why it happened.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A man was in custody Monday on suspicion of felony hit-and-run in the death of his girlfriend, who police say was run over by the suspect's pickup truck.

The 24-year-old woman was struck about 9 p.m. Saturday near McKinley Avenue and Jefferson Boulevard and died at a hospital a short time later, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

Rudy Zacarias, 25, of Los Angeles, allegedly left the scene and was later arrested and booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, with bail set at $110,000, the LAPD reported.

"A female passenger in a pickup truck for an unknown reason exited the vehicle while still in motion" and "was struck by the rear tires," according to an LAPD statement. "Detectives are trying to determine if the female was intentionally pushed out of the vehicle or if she exited on her own."

The woman's name was withheld, pending notification of her relatives.
