Average LA County Gas Price Drops for 14th Time in 16 Days

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in LA County fell today for the 14th time in 16 days, dropping 1 cent to $4.88.

LOS ANGELES -- The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County fell today for the 14th time in 16 days, dropping 1 cent to $4.882.

The average price has decreased 6.8 cents over the past 16 days, including nine-tenths of a cent Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It is 3.4 cents less than one week ago, six-tenths of a cent lower than one month ago and 94.9 cents below what it was a year ago.

The average price has dropped $1.612 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5.

The national average price dropped for the 14th consecutive day following a 23-day streak of increases totaling 25.1 cents, falling 1.2 cents to $3.574. It has dropped 11.2 cents over the past 14 days, including 1 cent Wednesday, and is 6.2 cents less than one week ago and 65.2 cents lower than one year ago but 6.7 cents more than one month ago.

The national average price has dropped $1.442 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14.
