📰 Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:
1) On Friday, the police arrested two suspects in a series of armed robberies. They had allegedly “ambushed a Loomis guard who had just finished working on ATMs at a Bank of America in Los Angeles' Harbor City neighborhood.” The men are 30 and 47 years old. In addition to this robbery, they are suspected in three more that occurred between August 4 and October 17. (Yahoo!News)
2) Ricky’s Fish Tacos is leaving Los Angeles. The taquero, Rick Piña, announced on Monday that he wants to “be in a quieter place, L.A. is too crazy right now.” Scuttlebutt says he’s moving the business to Kern County, but there isn’t yet a confirmed location for the tasty Ensenada-style fish tacos. (KTLA)
3) On Friday, there was a groundbreaking for a traffic circle at 88th and McKinley. Neighbors, Curren Price, Jr., and members from the Bureau of Engineering were there. All celebrated the beginning of construction that “will improve safety and walkability in the area.” (LADOT)
4) The Ballona Creek Trash Interceptor 007 Pilot Project went live on Friday. This 73-foot-long catamaran is a “fully automated, solar-powered trash collection device” that is part of a two-year pilot program. It is considered “the first scalable solution to prevent plastic from entering the world’s oceans from rivers.” (Business Wire)
5) If you’re looking for a way to have some fun while filling out your somewhat lengthy ballot, there’s a solution. All Season Brewing at La Brea and 8th is hosting a ballot filing party on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There’ll be tacos and beer! (LA Forward Action)
