📰 Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today:

  1. Beverly Crest fatal shooting update: Last week, we talked about a fatal shooting on Ellison Drive. A Sunday update told us that the three victims were identified as women ranging in age from 26 to 33. According to the police, “this was a gun battle where the victims were shot.” Officials don’t believe it was an active shooter incident. The police are still working with the surviving witnesses to identify a suspect. (Patch, KTLA)
  2. Last week, we talked about the man dubbed the "Tesla Terrorist" who’d been smashing other drivers’ cars with a pipe. On Sunday, a 36-year-old man was arrested “driving a Tesla Model X on State Route 2.” He was duly taken in as the assault suspect and on “two unspecified outstanding warrants.” (Patch, My Motherlode)
  3. At the beginning of December, a man robbed a pregnant woman — at gunpoint — of her two French bulldogs. She was walking them in the 4100 block of Kraft Avenue. On Thursday, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) arrested a 27-year-old suspect in Glendale. The doggies were already safe at home; you may remember that they were given to a woman in Hollywood, who then called the owners. (Patch, NBC)
  4. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to a structure fire at 7301 North Lennox Avenue on Friday afternoon. They found a “two-story, garden style apartment building” and could see fire in one unit. Although 46 firefighters battled the blaze valiantly, it ended up affecting four units. “The fire in the unit of origin extended laterally to three units and up into the attic.” After putting out the flames, they found that a total of five units were damaged, either by fire or by smoke and water. Eleven people, including children, were displaced, but nobody was hurt. At this time, officials believe that the blaze began in the attic. (LAFD)
  5. We’re living in earthquake country. Do you have an emergency kit? The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) reminded residents on Sunday that while its crews “will be there to help by restoring affected water and power services as quickly and safely as possible,” you need an emergency kit to deal with the immediate aftermath of any natural disaster.
