Bomb Threat Prompts Evacuation At USC

A busy building at the University of Southern California was evacuated Wednesday afternoon following a bomb threat.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A busy building at the University of Southern California was evacuated Wednesday afternoon due to a bomb threat. Authorities determined there was no active threat.

The university's Department of Public Safety said at around 2:30 p.m. that the Student Union Building had been evacuated due to a bomb threat.

People were warned to stay away from the area. The Los Angeles Police Department was at the scene, according to the university.

About 30 minutes later, the university reported that "the LAPD has determined the bomb threat at the Student Union Building was false."

"It is now safe to return to the building," officials wrote.
