Boy, 4, Killed In Road Rage Shooting In Los Angeles County

After following the victims down several streets, the suspects opened fire, killing the child in the backseat, investigators said.

LANCASTER, CA — A 4-year-old boy was shot and killed during a road rage incident as his parents were headed to the grocery store in Lancaster over the weekend, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department and a fundraiser established for the child's family.

At about 7:30 p.m. Friday, a mother and father and their son were driving in the area of Sierra Highway and East Avenue J when another driver cut them off and began following them along several streets, investigators said.

"While being pursued by the suspects, the victim driver slowed his vehicle, at which time the suspect driver pulled up along the passenger side of the victim’s car and began shooting," sheriff's officials said in a written statement. "During the incident, a 4-year-old boy, who was seated in the backseat, was struck by gunfire in the upper torso."

The boy's parents rushed him to a hospital in hopes of saving him, but he was pronounced dead by the hospital staff. He was identified as Gor Adamyan.

Investigators located the suspect vehicle in the immediate area and arrested Byron Burkhurt, 29, and Alexandria Gentile, 27, on suspicion of murder, according to the sheriff's department.

No other people were injured in the incident.

At this time, police don't believe there are any other outstanding suspects, and the investigation is ongoing.

A GoFundMe page was established to help the boy's family with funeral expenses. It had raised more than $1,900 as of Monday.

According to the page, the family was on the way to a grocery store when their child was shot. His loved ones described Gor as a vibrant boy slain just 10 days before Christmas.

"As we grapple with the magnitude of this loss, we turn to you, our community, for kindness and generosity," Anahit Topchyan wrote on the GoFundMe page. "Together, let us stand united in support of the Adamyan family and remember Gor's bright spirit."
