Boy Killed In LA School Pickup Crash; Several Others Hurt in Collision
The boy was killed and five others were injured in a crash that occurred in the parking lot as parents were picking up their kids.
LOS ANGELES, CA — A teenage boy was killed Wednesday in the parking lot of his San Fernando Valley school during pickup time when he was pinned between two vehicles, according to authorities.
The collision occurred outside Campbell Hall School on the 4500 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Studio City at around 3 p.m. Arriving firefighters found the 15-year-old, described as "gravely injured," in the parking lot, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The boy and his uninjured father were transported to a local hospital, firefighters said. The teen died at the hospital, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The incident occurred during afterschool pickup time at the rear of the campus, when the driver of a green 2025 Rivian SUV struck the boy as he was walking in between vehicles. He was pinned between the Rivian and a smaller white SUV, KTLA reported.
"The vehicle that the student walked in between moved forward," LAPD Lt. Matthew Bielski told reporters Wednesday afternoon, adding that it remained unclear why the SUV moved forward and hit the student.

Bielski said the "unfortunate incident" was believed to have just been an accident, and no citations were issued.
Another teenage boy later reported unspecified minor injuries following the collision. He was evaluated at the scene but was not taken to a hospital.
Four others — one minor and three adults — also suffered unspecified non-life-threatening injuries connected to the crash, firefighters said.
Campbell Hall administrators sent a letter to parents notifying them that the school would be closed on Thursday. However, grief counselors were being made available to students and families from 10 a.m. to noon at the school's gym.
The Mayor's Crisis Response Team planned to offer emotional support and recovery assistance to relatives and witnesses at the scene Thursday.
