Bronny James Drafted To Lakers, Making NBA History: Report

LOS ANGELES, CA — The first father-son pair in history to play in the NBA will play as teammates after the Los Angeles Lakers drafted Bronny James, son of LeBron James, on Thursday.

According to a report from ESPN, Bronny was selected with the 55th pick in the second round of the draft.

The family was at a dinner party with family when they received the news, a source told ESPN. After the news was delivered, LeBron led a "Very emotional" toast to commemorate the occasion, the source said.

"In the history of the NBA, there's never been a father and a son that have shared an NBA basketball court and that feels like something that could be magical," Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka said. "We know, and have to respect of course, that LeBron has a decision on his opt-out... but if it worked out that he was on our team next season, NBA history could be made. And NBA history should be made in a Lakers uniform."
