Brush Fire Breaks Out In Los Angeles County

An estimated 200 firefighters are at the scene.

MONTEBELLO, CA --County firefighters were struggling to get a handle on a three-alarm brush fire Saturday that has charred about 21 acres of vegetation in Montebello, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The fire in heavy brush near San Gabriel Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue was reported at 11:27 a.m., according to the department.

Containment was estimated at 40 percent as of 6 p.m., the department said.

An estimated 200 firefighters are at the scene. Several water-dropping helicopters have been dispatched to the fight.

So far there have been no injuries and no structures threatened, the department said.
