LOS ANGELES, CA — As the weekend wraps, we've rounded up some of the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.
But before we jump into SoCal's other top stories: Temperatures are expected to rise slightly across Southern California early this week, with highs in the mid-to-high 70s along the coast, the high 80s and low 90s inland and in coastal valleys, between 90 and 100 in the Inland Empire and around 110 in the Coachella Valley. A slight cooling trend is expected to take hold for the second half of the week, according to the National Weather Service.
The warm temperatures, coupled with very low humidity and winds will bring elevated fire conditions across the region by Tuesday, the National Weather Service said.

Catching up on other headlines from the weekend: Los Angeles is set to have a major presence at the Democratic National Convention after five City Council members and Mayor Karen Bass departed on Sunday for Chicago, where Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to formally accept her party's nomination as its presidential candidate.

In other news, amid a recent rash of burglaries in the San Fernando Valley, police say they managed to catch one thief red-handed. Police got a call about a homeowner holding a burglar, when officers arrived, they discovered the suspect was a parolee who was wearing a GPS monitor.
