CA Haircare Giant John Paul Mitchell Plans Move To TX
The California brand is planning a move to Texas and investing in new infrastructure in the Lone Star State.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Haircare giant John Paul Mitchell Systems, whose brands include Paul Mitchell and Tea Tree, is opening a new corporate headquarters in Texas, the state's governor announced this week.
The company, which is currently headquartered in Century City and has an additional presence in Santa Clarita, will soon open new facilities in Dallas County. As part of the move, the firm will open a new global distribution center in the Lone Star State, according to an announcement from Gov. Greg Abbott.
Abbott said the company will "expand their corporate headquarters from California to Dallas County." It's unclear if the company will retain its West Coast presence and if so, how large of a presence. Patch has reached out to JPMS for comment.

The distribution center will be located in Wilmer, a small town 16 miles southeast of Dallas.
“This $12 million investment by John Paul Mitchell Systems to expand their corporate headquarters to Texas and establish a new global product distribution center in Wilmer will create 80 new good-paying jobs for hardworking Texans. With our skilled and growing workforce, leading position in U.S. and global markets, and the strongest pro-growth economic policies in America, we will continue to attract more headquarters and create more jobs across our great state," Abbott said.

The state awarded John Paul Mitchell Systems a $640,000 Texas Enterprise Fund grant to support the move. The program is described by state officials as a "deal-closing" grant, awarded to companies considering a new project for which one Texas site is competing with out-of-state sites.
The company joins a growing list of California companies that have moved to or expanded their operations in Texas. Abbott billed the state "the headquarters of headquarters" in his announcement.
Last year, Chevron Corporation announced it plans to move from San Ramon to Houston. And Elon Musk's SpaceX moved from Hawthorne to the Texas coast and after he bought Twitter and renamed it X, he moved the company's operations from San Francisco to the Austin suburbs.
