- The Super Bowl champion Rams got their victory parade Wednesday. Mayor Eric Carcetti was there to hand “keys to the city of LA to Cooper Kupp, Aaron Donald and Matthew Stafford.” However, “the Lakers and Dodgers both won world titles in 2020, but neither franchise had a victory parade due to pandemic restrictions.” The Lakers' LeBron James proposed, “We, Dodgers and Rams should all do a joint parade together! With a live concert afterwards to end it!! City of Champions." (@NBCLA, NBC)
- Starting Monday, workers changed the famous Hollywood sign to read Rams' House. But everyone wasn’t happy as the transformation was underway. For a while, it read “RALLYWOSE,” which left residents scratching their heads. Others commented on the finished product as looking like “toilet paper.” (LA Mag)
- We learned Wednesday that L.A. City Council President Nury Martinez has a plan for Mark Ridley-Thomas' council seat. Martinez announced “a plan to appoint Herb Wesson to serve as an interim council member” for the South L.A. district. “Wesson cares deeply about the communities he represents and knows the district better than anyone." (@DavidZahniser)
- Selma Elementary was placed on lockdown Wednesday. The LAPD was “dealing with a barricaded suspect armed with a weapon in a parking lot on the east side of the school.” The man was later found to have died of suicide. (@LASchoolPolice; L.A. Times/paywall)
- The Spelling Manor is back on the market, we learned Wednesday. The asking price is “$165 million, over 25% more than it sold for in 2019.” The Holmby Hills mansion has 14 bedrooms, 27 bathrooms, and was sold “in 2019, for an $80 million discount from its original asking price. It was sold to an unidentified Saudi Arabian buyer.” (Fox 11)
