3rd Body Linked To Shooting Death Of Doctor And Wife Outside Their SoCal Home: Report

The killings are likely connected to a person found dead by suicide next to a burning car hours later, authorities said.

SIMI VALLEY, CA — A doctor and his wife were shot outside their Simi Valley home Sunday in what authorities believe was a targeted attack, according to reports.

The killings are "likely" connected to the discovery of a person who was found dead, potentially by suicide, next to a car engulfed in flames in the Inland Empire hours later, NBC Los Angeles reported.

Officers responded to a call on the 500 block of Hawks Bill Place in Simi Valley's Wood Ranch neighborhood around noon Sunday. At the scene, officers found a man and a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Fox 11 reported.

Witnesses told Fox 11 that the killing occurred quickly, when a man walked up the couple's driveway and opened fire before driving off.

"We don't believe this is a random act," Simi Valley Sgt. Rick Morton said, according to ABC 7. "We do believe the victims were targeted."

Less than three hours after the Cordeses were found dead, police in Chino found a person dead in a parking lot near Central and Edison avenues, NBC Los Angeles reported.

Officers had responded to a report of a car fire. At the scene, they found a person lying dead next to a Honda Civic engulfed in flames, the station reported.
