How do you know the teacher?

I volunteer at the Marine Mammal Care Center, where she works.

What does this person teach?

She teaches countless staff members, interns and volunteers how to engage in life-saving measures for the thousands of pinnipeds (seals and sea lions) that come into the hospital at the Marine Mammal Care Center. They strand due to being sick and/or injured. Many lay lifeless, hanging by a thread until they are rescued and life is breathed back into them. Dr. Palmer works tirelessly to give them a second chance at life and empowers those she works with to follow suit. She helps many veterinary students learn what is necessary to become successful in the field.

Why do you believe the teacher should be recognized or honored?

She goes above and beyond the call of duty to help students and volunteers be the best they can be in an environment where time is of the essence in saving the lives of sick and injured seals and sea lions. She also has exceptional leadership skills.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the teacher?

Dr. Lauren Palmer invests an incredible amount of time and energy in giving the animals in her care a second chance at life and teaching those she works with to be the best at what they are doing to be successful with animal care. She is there to help a newborn and there to comfort an animal when it takes its last breath. She truly makes a difference in the lives of the animals in her care as well as the people. Everyone who crosses paths with her is blessed.
