SoCal leaders reacted with heartbreak, outrage, and promises of increased security following attacks at a Hanukkah celebration in Australia that killed 16. For Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein, who was shot at a 2019 attack at Chabad of Poway, the attack was especially personal: his nephew was the rabbi leading the service who was killed.
In other tragic news, a Santa Clarita student at Brown University who was shot in the stomach at Saugus High School in 2019, survived her second school shooting at just 21 years old. "Everyone always tells themselves it'll never be me," she told the BBC.
