📰 Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:

  1. What’ll happen to the Highland Theatre building on Figueroa Street? It’s been sold, and we don’t know the buyer’s name. However, on Wednesday, scuttlebutt said that “it’s the same person who, in 2016, renovated the Highland Park Bowl building across the street from the theater and restored the nearly century-old property.” It’s interesting to note that the buyer got the building but not the theater, “which has held a 99-year lease on the property that is finally set to expire next month.” (The Eastsider LA)
  2. Did you see footage of Sunday afternoon’s rampage near 107th Street and Normandie Avenue? Reportedly, a future ex-husband was filmed “crashing a dump truck into his estranged wife's home in South Los Angeles and slamming into parked cars on the street.” Showing remarkable calm, the wife said she’ll be filing for a restraining order “because we are going through a divorce. And he is upset about the fact, no contact. He's verbally abusive, and I have nothing nice to say.” (ABC)
  3. The California Highway Patrol went after an alleged reckless driver on Tuesday afternoon. After a chase on the westbound 105 Freeway, northbound 405 Freeway, and surface streets, the driver finally pulled over on Inglewood Avenue. It’s interested to note that there was a reportedly stolen French bulldog in the car. (KTLA)
  4. Grammy Hall of Fame singer Johnny Mathis lost some square footage of property in a hillside collapse. On Tuesday, “the hill fell toward the 1400 block of Sunset Plaza Drive, below the singer’s home, exposing what appears to be a walkway to the house and drainage pipes.” (KTLA)
  5. If you have between $225 and $285, you can participate in Lively Little Farm's Rent-a-Chicken program. Seriously! You can “rent two or four egg-producing hens for up to six months. The service comes with your own chicken coop for your backyard.” Two chickens lay about eight to 14 eggs a week. Remember that the county allows for “backyard chickens, with the stipulation that chicken coops must be at least 35 feet from a neighboring structure and 100 feet if you have a rooster.” (Fox)
