📰 Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today:

  1. On Friday evening, a Metro Blue Line train struck an adult male at 1657 East Slauson Avenue. “Firefighters worked to quickly extract the patient from the tracks (no technical rescue or extrication required)” and took him to a trauma center. Last we heard, he was in critical condition. (Los Angeles Fire Department)
  2. Caltrans released its early list of storm-related road closures on Saturday morning. They include the SB I-5 connector to the SB I-110, as well as the SB I-5 connector at the Boyle Heights interchange. Crews are working to clean up after mudslides at both locations. Officials urge residents to check in with them before hitting the road. (Caltrans District 7)
  3. Are you familiar with the JOEY Woodland Hills at 6344 Topanga Canyon Boulevard? On Friday evening, guests got an eyeful when Britney Spears “had a bizarre meltdown, prompting her husband to storm out.” It didn’t help that Spears was recognized immediately, and folks “pulled out their cell phones and began shooting footage of her.” (TMZ)
  4. We’re number . . . five?! We learned on Friday that Los Angeles is number five on Orkin’s list of the Top 50 Bed Bug Cities. Adding insult to injury, we jumped up seven places when compared to last year’s listing. By the way, “while it’s important to be aware of bed bug infestations within hotels, the pests also try to hitch rides in taxis, buses and airplanes.” (Patch)
  5. If you’re still feeling like traveling after the last story, consider what insiders called an “underrated L.A. neighborhood” this Saturday: Culver City. Terming it a “charming enclave,” travel gurus say it’s “shaping up to become Los Angeles’ new ‘it’ destination for tourists and locals alike.” Mentioned attractions include The Shay, Canopy Club, and the Platform.
