LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles Fire Department is battling a 1-acre brush fire by the Golden State (5) and Harbor (110) Freeway transition near Elysian Park. Shortly after 3:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert for the southbound 5/110 transition road expected to last until about 5 p.m.
A vehicle fire extended to nearby brush along the southbound side of the 5 freeway near the transition to the southbound 110 freeway shortly after 3 p.m., according to LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey.
Firefighters arrived to find a well-involved vehicle fire, with flames extending uphill amid heavy brush, said Humphrey. Ground and air crews were called in to battle the blaze.
