Super Bowl Champion Arrested After LA Robbery Spree: LAPD
The former NFL player is accused of robbing at least five businesses in the Southland, NBC News reported.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Former NFL running back and Super Bowl champion Derrick Ward was arrested Monday on charges of committing a robbery spree in the Southland, NBC News reported.
Ward, 43, is accused of robbing at least five businesses, including gas stations, the Los Angeles Police Department told NBC. He is not suspected of using a firearm during the crimes, police said.
Ward was arrested at noon Tuesday by officers in LAPD's North Hollywood Division. He's being held on $250,000 bail, jail records show.

Ward played for the New York Giants when they won the Super Bowl in 2007.
Ward grew up in Riverside County and played college football at Fresno State and Ottawa University in Kansas.

He was drafted in the seventh round by the New York Jets in 2004 but was cut before the regular season. He went on to have an eight-season career with stints playing for the Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Houston Texans.
